The LM HEAT team (Hypersonics Engineering and Accelerated Technologies) is seeking an experienced aerothermal fluids engineer to perform analysis of complex systems and technologies supporting hypersonic missile and flight vehicle system development.
In this position you will:
Candidates for this position typically have a minimum of 9 years of professional experience with the majority of that experience in aerodynamic modeling with viscous Navier Stokes CFD solvers. Experience executing CFD for hypersonic flows and reacting flows is preferred.

- - Knowledge of aerodynamic and aerothermal test facilities including high enthalpy arc heaters, radiant test facilities, blow-down facilities, and sled test facilities.
- - Knowledge of TPS material physics including ablation, decomposition, and mechanical erosion is a plus.

- Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of hypersonic missiles and flight vehicles to determine aerodynamic forces and heat transfer across all flight regimes.
- Contribute to a team of highly skilled hypersonics aerothermal engineers to develop novel and cutting edge solutions to complex problems,
- Support ground and flight testing data analysis to validate aerodynamic models as well as component and integrated flight designs,
- Present technical results to both internal and external customers, and
- Support cross-functional technical and project teams.

Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in aerodynamic modeling with viscous Navier Stokes CFD solvers
- This position requires U.S. Citizenship and must be able to obtain / maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Experienced in the use of finite volume CFD Navier Stokes solvers to perform fluid dynamics analysis. Experience with CFD solvers such as Loci-CHEM and CFD++ is desired.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Excellent customer interface skills.
Additional Desired Skills
