Position Description:

The Chase Digital web channel team is responsible for enhancing the web experiences for our Chase digital customers. As part of the Digital team, Web Platform is building a best-in-class platform for Chase consumer and business applications. We are looking for Principle Engineer with strong technical skills and a proven track record of delivering results in an agile environment. As a Principle engineer you are expected to be technology SME and responsible for bringing teams together to deliver with best practice and industry leading tooling. You should have strong experience in client-side technologies, and a passion for creating the best user experience possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Applies extensive in-depth expertise and problem-solving methodologies to accomplish, plan, and review tasks across multiple large scope projects in various technical areas.
  • Strong understanding of the overall software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) and activities.
  • Typically responsible high impact projects or initiatives requiring deep technical expertise and leadership.
  • Go-to SME throughout the function and advises on technological matters within the web domain of expertise.
  • Identifies and solves problems of high complexity and cross-functional variety without clear solution approaches.
  • Extensive consideration of upstream/downstream or downstream system or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions.
  • Mostly independent decisions within broadly defined policies. Exercises some judgement for decision making on solution development.
  • Enacting agile development values and practices.
  • Consults with peers and uses independent judgment and technical expertise to determine the best course of action.
  • Regularly translates technical expertise to leadership including unprecedented work.
  • Advises on development of technical processes (e.g. systems, applications, products, methods).
  • Review and approve code design and implementation
  • Drive Shift Left Testing practices

Requirements:
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Understanding of software design patterns and paradigms, such as object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming (FP).
  • Expertise on React, JavaScript, TypeScript and other web technologies for implementing web applications.
  • Expertise in Java, J2EE
  • Experience in AWS migration
  • Experience in unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing including the use of libraries like Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Selenium etc.
  • Strong hands-on coding experience.
  • Good experience with Component Driven Design
  • Good experience with RESTful and GraphQL web services.
  • Experience in page optimization (performance), understanding of performance consideration for React applications

Desirable:
  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud related technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, GKP, AWS, etc.
  • Good experience in customizing CSS frameworks like Bootstrap and Foundation as well as CSS pre-processors like Less or Sass.
  • Good understanding of Material UI, Chakra UI, or similar component libraries.
  • Experience with SSR (Server-Side Rendering) and SSG (Server-Side Generation) preferably using Next.js.
  • Participation in Test Driven Development or Business Driven Development (BDD)
  • Practice of Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery

Qualifications:
  • Overall 10+ years of experience in delivering technology solutions
  • 8+ years of web development experience.
  • 8+ years' experience with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • 5+ years experience with Java, J2EE, Experience Services
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
