This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Systems Engineer for our New York, NY office. Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Systems Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings eliciting client requirements
- Prepare concept of operations
- Manage stakeholder and system requirements for rail system projects
- Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies
- Perform feasibility analysis on system alternatives and design options.
- Conducts site surveys
- Prepare scope of works, project requirements, design criteria, specifications, design drawings, and other construction documents
- Applies systems engineering principles to develop effective solutions
- Calculates cost and determines feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering
- Utilize strong communication skills both written and oral
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3+ years of railroad and/or transit industry systems engineering experience
- Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
- Project management experience
- Proficiency with MS Office software
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional registration – INCOSE Certification (ASEP/CSEP)
Compensation and Benefits:
WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
Expected Salary: $65,900 - $115,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
