This role will be focused on advanced manufacturing engineering development projects, with a focus on assembly and test for new programs, such as, mechanical valve lifters, vane phasing, roller lifter capacity increase and model changes, Focus Factory OEE initiatives, and EV group assistance where needed.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • New manufacturing process definition, sequence of operations, human factors consideration, efficient material flow
  • Analyze process materials or product designs for the best methods of manufacture
  • Prepare statements of requirements and timing plans for capital expenditures
  • Supply inputs to business case development on new or modified products or processes
  • Provide technical direction to machine builders, perform debug and qualification of new equipment

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (Associates Degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience may be considered
  • Assembly/testing experience in a high volume, automated manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in project work from development and quoting through launch and mature production
  • Experience with multiple automation configurations: manual, power & free conveyors, synchronous machines, robotics
  • Experience with functional testing of precision components
  • Structured problem solving (Red X, 6 Sigma, OPEX) training and experience
  • Experience working in Union manufacturing facility
  • Experience working with fast (< 2 second) cycle time equipment
