Job Summary

Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage, Inc. (EGTS) is currently seeking an experienced Engineer II/III to join the Reservoir Development & Optimization Team within Gas Storage Services located in our White Oaks General Office Building in Bridgeport, WV. This position will be filled at either the Engineer II or Engineer III level, commensurate with the selected candidate's skills and abilities. Flexible work arrangements including hybrid and compressed work schedules may be available and are not guaranteed.

The Reservoir Development & Optimization Team is responsible for the following:

  • Analyzing, evaluating, and maintaining/improving existing gas storage pools.
  • Analyze storage pool capacity, deliverability, and peaking abilities.
  • Identify opportunities for additional economical capacity or deliverability development in EGTS storage pools.
  • Generate winter withdrawal and summer injection operating plans for use in the optimization of the storage asset.
  • Develop storage pool deliverability and injectability curves to monitor pool performance.
  • Prepare annual operating reports.
  • Provide field engineering support on selected pools.
  • Participate in and prepare information for semi-annual partnership meetings.
  • Evaluate present well performance and identify wells for stimulation.
  • Maintain and monitor reservoir conditions through shut-in tests and inventory verification studies. Perform special studies to identify and manage storage gas inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with preparing gas storage information for FERC certificate filings.
  • Maintain EGTS’s Storage Integrity Management Program (SIMP) including the annual review framework for Sections and Standards to ensure PHMSA compliance. Act as a subject matter expert and coordinate submissions with other subject matter experts.
  • Prepare for and provide support during PHMSA Storage inspections.
  • Maintain the gas storage compliance monitoring system and reports for EGTS. This is critical for demonstrating and tracking PHMSA compliance. Assist with creating new inspection processes and forms as needed to address identified gaps.
  • Ensure compliance of storage reservoirs with FERC certification, PHMSA regulations, and State regulatory Oil and Gas Commissions.
  • Maintain a very detailed understanding of the records required to maintain PHMSA compliance regarding monthly well inspections / visits.
  • Compile and analyze data for EGTS Storage Well Risk Ranking using EGTS’s inspection systems, GIS systems (Small World and GSA), and manual data sources.
  • Perform QA and prepare data for import into the risk model.
  • Maintain all required fields for the Storage Well Risk Ranking.
  • Review risk model outputs and perform analysis; Risk Model currently includes 73 threat fields and 14 consequence fields.
  • Ensure preventive and mitigative measures are tracked and documented by well as part of PHMSA compliance for EGTS.
  • Assist with preparation of risk ranking assessments for project selection and budgeting purposes.
  • Maintain the Gas Storage MOC process.
  • Participate in and document periodic reviews of: Risk Model variables, MOC, procedures and standards; Support internal and external audits.
  • Prepare reports on remaining production reserves estimates associated with EGTS production assets.
  • Perform other duties or special studies, as needed.

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):



Engineer II:
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 2+ years relevant Oil & Gas engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3+ years relevant Oil & Gas engineering experience

Engineer III:
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 7+ years relevant Oil & Gas engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8+ years relevant Oil & Gas engineering experience

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Engineer II/Engineer III:
  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals.
  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), ARIES, and Fekete Well Test.
  • Planning, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data and draw valid conclusions.
  • Effective decision-making skills. Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of conventional sandstone reservoirs, reef structures, and/or aquifer storage containers.
  • Knowledge of company operations and natural gas industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FERC, PHMSA, EPA, OSHA, API, ASME, etc.).
  • Knowledge of API RP 1171.
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills.

Education Requirements

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering degree is strongly preferred.
