Job Description

This role is in the Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) organization. RCES Cast Members work on behalf of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining RCID-owned utility systems across the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Manager – Utility and Facility Service leads a team of Cast Members responsible for leading key maintenance activities across utilities and back-of-house Walt Disney World facilities. Key skills required for success in this role are engaged safety leadership, work prioritization and execution along with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

This position will report to Director-Reedy Creek Energy Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to approximately 90 Cast Members including salaried professionals, first-line leaders, and unionized front-lined skilled craft workers across a diverse geographical/multi-utility and facility environment, to provide superior maintenance services for assigned assets.
  • Provide a safe and healthy work environment for all Cast Members through proper maintenance of equipment and facilities and elimination of hazards, while ensuring consistency to all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Handle annual expense budget and other financial targets. Develop long-range team planning efforts, workforce, and skill-mix planning.
  • Lead the centralized utility maintenance functions including HVAC/painting/mechanics/distributed piping systems/low voltage plant and industrial electrical systems/PLCs.
  • Lead the response to all abnormal conditions. Provide technical leadership to operations including initial analysis of disturbances and forced outages.
  • Develop capital improvement plans for utility assets and facilities within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure all work is performed as planned and scheduled with appropriate resources using Maximo (enterprise CMMS).
  • Generate and evaluate work performance reports, making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
  • Coordinate work activities with RCES Utility Leaders, Building and Property Management, and key partners/tenants in back-of-house Walt Disney World facilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive applicable leadership experience, including budget or financial oversight.
  • Technical proficiency in one or more of the following areas; HVAC systems, large pumping and piping systems, electrical controls, PLC controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, or steam/boiler systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems
  • Demonstrated experience using an enterprise asset management system.
  • Strong computer skills; solid understanding of Microsoft Office products with the ability to learn other software applications.
  • Must be flexible and available to respond to after-hour emergencies under short notice. This includes responding to emergencies outside of normal work shifts.
  • Ability to perform work in a variety of field environments, including heights and confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical pumping and piping systems, wastewater collection systems, or large centrifugal chillers and boilers in a central energy/district energy plant.
  • Utility design, maintenance, or operations experience.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Related Technical Field

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
