Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking to hire a Software Engineer to join our growing Ontology team. This is hands-on technical role where you will spend most of your time designing, coding, and implementing software solutions for Watson Orders Ontology, in collaboration with other hardworking engineers.

We are looking for someone who has experience wrangling large code-bases (preferably in Python), and who was worked with AI applications at scale. As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with other engineers on our Ontology team to tackle sophisticated algorithmic and design challenges and rapidly ship novel AI features.

You will help to take ownership and tease out nice designs of the foundational parts of the Ontology code, which are sophisticated and tightly-coupled.
You will help us migrate from an in-memory product database to a cloud solution for in-store product integration. This is includes participating in the design and implementation of a cloud database to store our Ontology data.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience in Computational Linguistics and Data Management
• Experience working with large production code bases.
• You must have experience designing and implementing SQL databases.
• You must be familiar with fundamental algorithms and data-structures and be comfortable improvising as new challenges arise

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Extensive Experience with Python and other Object Oriented programming languages.
• Experience working in the Ontology space for Natural Language Applications.
• Experience with products that directly utilize Machine Learning.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
