The NanoPort team, within the Sales and Service Division Organization, runs an Electron Microscopy Center of Excellence, supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific’s account managers and external customers in the Sciences and Industry markets. Key objectives of the NanoPort are:
- The delivery of high-quality Customer Applications Training and Support, allowing users to obtain the best possible results from their instruments in the shortest possible time;
- Carefully prepared Product and Workflow Demonstrations, based on a solid understanding of our customers’ application needs and highlighting the unique value of Thermo Scientific solutions in a highly competitive market;
- Application contributions to new hardware and software Product introductions;
- The generation of Marketing Collateral and contributions to high-profile Workshops and Conferences.
What will you do?
- Provide fast, effective troubleshooting and repair support for NanoPort TEM systems;
- Support TEM system installations, upgrades, and de-installations;
- Support planned preventative maintenance of NanoPort TEM systems;
- Raise awareness of hardware, software, and product quality issues, reporting any issues to our New Product Introduction and Global Technical Support teams;
- Ensure that EHS protocols are followed within the NanoPort;
- Ensure that consumable stocks are maintained, ordering new supplies as required;
- Cultivate positive working relationships with colleagues, build and acquire knowledge through technical training, mentorship, and job shadowing;
- Work together with our application scientists to deliver outstanding microscopy solutions to our customers.
How Will You Get Here?
Education:
- A University Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of Technical Education and experience with sophisticated electro-mechanical systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- 3+ years of hands on technical experience installing, repairing and calibrating complex systems. Experience with high end TEM systems is strongly preferred;
- Experience repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly desired;
- Able to read and interpret schematics;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a professional working proficiency in English;
- Ability to partner effectively with technical colleagues and application scientists;
- High level of proficiency with Windows software, network knowledge, and current computer hardware.
