Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description
Summary
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality level of purchased materials, components, and assemblies supplied to Nook Industries. This will include involvement in the complete lifecycle of a supplier relationship from on-boarding to exiting when necessary. This position will collaborate with several groups across the organization, including Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supplier Selection:
- Ensure that new/potential suppliers have the necessary process control and measuring equipment competencies to provide Nook with conforming products.
- Work with the Nook Supply Chain team to identify potential new suppliers.
- Coordinate early assessment activities in order to identify risk.
- Perform initial on-site audits.
- Apply quality requirement flow-downs to new suppliers.
Supplier Development:
- Work directly with existing suppliers to ensure conformance and accountability to Nook requirements.
- Monitor supplier quality performance metrics, and manage/coach suppliers placed in formal improvement program.
- Management and investigation of supplier non-conformances through containment, root cause investigation, preventative actions and verified closure in a timely manner.
- Be a key part in the supplier waiver request process.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Quality, Engineering or Manufacturing.
Experience:
- Minimum five years of professional experience in a related technical field,
preferably Quality Assurance
- Trained/Qualified auditor preferred
Specific Skills:
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Must be proficient using MS Office products. Experience presenting using PowerPoint.
- Ability to self-direct and to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience using Minitab or the aptitude to quickly learn.
- Work urgently and thoroughly to prevent line stoppages
- Able to escalate issues in the correct manner.
- Demonstrated ability with quality and continuous improvement tools (Process FMEA, Risk analysis, APQP, 8D, SPC, MSA, etc.)
Physical Demand and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
