WHO IS THE FRP TECH SPECIALIST
The FRP Tech Specialist contributes to Regal’s mission of excellence by demonstrating a true passion for composites. This individual will work alongside the Product Development and Engineering Team to define the specifications for all composite materials on new products. This individual will have an immediate impact by:
Leading and defining Regal’s long-term composite plan.
Working with manufacturing leaders to develop processes and lamination schedules to reduce gel coat rework plant wide.
Developing a process to reduce print during the infusion process. This could include Epoxy or other lamination methods.
Developing a new stringer/structural system for smaller boats.
The current process is pre-formed foam wrapped in glass that is laminated into the hull. The current process is dirty, labor intensive, and does not make for a clean environment.
Developing a process to turn molds quicker…reduce the amount of time a part spends in the mold.
By being responsible for the execution & completion of the following duties as he/she supervises and is assisted by his/her Lamination Tech.
CNC patterning of lamination materials
Make sure prototype laminated parts are:
Built to specification
CNC material is patterned correctly and fits the part
Material is in the “nest” and router team members are informed are where patterns go after being cut
Recording part build weights and amounts of material for lamination BOM
Time study on each new prototype laminated part
Coordinating with documentation tech; Updates the documentation tech with any drawing changes (if necessary)
Assisting production engineers with manufacturing issues
Assisting lamination team leads with manufacturing issues
Providing the “lamination spec sheet” to the lamination team leads when the boat is released to production
All other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

MUST HAVES
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related Technical Field
At least two years of 3D CAD Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks and Rhino
At least three years of experience in composites and composite structure design
At least two years experience reading, analyzing and interpreting complex technical documents
Must be a creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
Must be a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, decisive, good judgment and strong operational focus.
Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
A “Coach” who will share information as a mentor with the team
Must have a quick response time to sensitive inquiries and concerns
Two or more years of experience in presenting in small and large groups

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves and protective garments.
