Role Summary

This position will be the organization’s SME in MAFACT, WCM, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement and will provide the strategy, create the infrastructure, and lead the division to meet our strategic goals. The position is to deliver operational improvements through the strategic deployment of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and techniques. To Coordinate the MAFACT, WCM, Lean, Continuous Improvement Program at MEVS, focusing on leading improvement teams and team member suggestion implementation, tracking of cost savings, and team member recognition. Assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization. Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes. Employs Lean methodologies and tools to accomplish business objectives. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards
  • Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control
  • Formulate sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data
  • Record or oversee recording of information to ensure currency of engineering drawings and documentation of production problems
  • Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities
  • Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and defective or damaged parts, and assess cost and responsibility
  • Evaluate precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product
  • Assist with 5S workshops
  • Lead Kaizen events throughout the facility
  • Assist with implementation of Drive Impact employee suggestions
  • Create lean training to be used by the WCM group
  • Perform other duties as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization
  • Complete production reports, purchase orders, and material, tool, and equipment lists
  • Complete projects throughout the facility in order to meet MAFACT requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish fasts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Additional Information

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical related discipline/ Industrial Engineering
  • 10 years related automotive experience Preferred
  • Preferred areas of understanding: Production, Material/Logistics, Assembly Tooling, welding and sealer applications, CMM & datum alignment, data processing & reporting, customer tolerancing concepts, working knowledge of Catia V4/V5
