The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS), Global Surveillance division is looking for the right individuals to join our software team. This is a vital position supporting current programs in several mission critical software design and development areas. Candidate responsibilities will include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, and architecting complex solutions supporting the building and test plan execution, performing quality reviews, and triaging and fixing operational issues. Candidate will have the opportunity to become the subject matter expert for various subsystems and contribute to the overall design of the software.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to take ownership of hard problems and drive to a solution, while working in a team environment and provide leadership for its implementation. It is critical that you understand the software development life cycle and have an in-depth knowledge of automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data sets. The Software Engineer will participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The Software Engineer will apply technical expertise in solving complex integrations problems. The Software Engineer will interact with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers. Therefore, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required. A Solid experience in Java, C/C++, or other OOP languages, in Windows and/or Linux environment is required.
The Candidate shall be willing to travel to other sites to support TIMs, integration efforts, and other software related tasking. The Candidate shall also be willing to adjust work schedule to meet the needs of across the nation as required.
- Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with programs objectives
- In depth understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field listed under the basic qualifications
- Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software
- Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software that contain logical and mathematical solutions
- Solid knowledge in Java, C/C++, or other OOP languages on the Windows and/or Linux environment is required.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research when needed and collaborates with other disciplines supporting the program.
- Follows and ensures software standards are met.
- Work with various team members to integrate functionality with other software components

- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and 0 years of software engineering experience
- Experience with C/C++, Python, or other object-oriented languages.
- Excellent Oral and written Communication skills
- U.S. Citizen and an active, in-scope DoD security clearance at the Secret level with the ability to maintain it.
Basic Qualifications for Software Engineer:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience OR Master’s Degree
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Experience scripting using Python
- Experience integrating and testing software subsystems into systems
- STEM degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.
- Master’s Degree with relevant software engineering experience
- Experience in aeronautical displays development
- Experience in OpenGL
- Knowledge of Linux systems with basic commands
- Experience with Vehicle management software or equivalent VXWORKS
- Experience with Software tools like: Eclipse, Git, Rhapsody, DOORS, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
- Experience with Agile development.
- Experience with Google Test
- Experience with scripting in Python and Bash
- Experience developing software for safety critical embedded systems
- Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
- Experience developing software in a real-time and multi-threaded systems
- Experience collecting and analyzing CPU throughput utilization, data bus bandwidth utilization, and CPU memory utilization statistics
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and/or RTOS development such as LynxOS/VxWorks
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like Git
- Experience with Software/Hardware Integration
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Experience with Google Test and unit testing methodologies
- U.S. Citizen and an Active DoD Secret or Top Secret with issue/reissue in the last 5 years and the ability to obtain and maintain a special program access clearance
