What you'll be able to do:
This position is on the Battery Management Systems (BMS) team responsible for the implementation of the Hybrid Battery Monitoring System. As a Battery Controls Electronic Engineer, you will have responsibility for designing and validating BMS Hardware Controls. This position requires a trainable, self-motivated individual with a strong understanding of circuit schematics and simulations. This individual must have a passion for hardware development.

  • Validate model-based designs using desktop simulation packages (LTSPICE)
  • Implement requirements using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
  • Interact with other teams to develop controls requirements
  • Develop and maintain design documentation
  • Support tools development, compiler setup, static analysis, and software configuration management
  • Support failure mode analysis of the various hardware features and failure mode management strategies
  • Support Worst Case Circuit Analysis and Schematic Reviews with BMS supplier.
  • Handle multiple tasks and responsibilities

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with specialty in circuit design and control theory or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 6+ months of hands-on experience with electronic module design and testing.
  • 6+ months of working knowledge of Microprocessor based controller design and testing.
  • 3+ months of working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e.g. CAN, Serial, etc.).


Our preferred qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with electronic module design and testing
  • 1+ year of working knowledge of Microprocessor based controller design and testing.
  • 1+ year of working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e.g. CAN, Serial, etc.).
  • Able to function and learn in cross-discipline between Software Implementation and Controls Design
  • Understanding of Hybrid Battery and Hybrid Vehicle operations
  • Knowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle configurations and controls
  • Experience in project management
  • Understanding of operation and power electronic controls of (BMS) Battery Management System, DCDC, Charger and Motor Inverter
  • Excellent teamwork, written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
