Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Retrofit Engineer, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.


Essential Functions:


  • Responsible for the technical development, coordination, execution, and management of the NGAS-supplied portions of the F-35 Sustainment/Fleet Modifications Program.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply, operations, program office and customer stakeholders to manage comprehensive retrofit projects.
  • Develop Basis of Estimate proposal artifacts
  • Support and review modification engineering, Time Compliance Technical Directive (TCTD) manuscripts and provide both virtual and hands-on support for associated verification events.
  • Participate in unique modification tooling development activities and coordinate for related inspections, fielding and engineering support.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and experienced leveraging Microsoft Office suite applications.

Position involves significant influence and requires a resourceful, independent self-starter able to analyze and solve complex technical and logistical challenges involving solicitations of and commitments from various stakeholders.”

Basic Qualifications for Retrofit Engineer:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace) + 2 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace) with 0 years of experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace).
  • Prior aircraft maintenance or supplier hardware experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance.


Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
