As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will maintain the fluid systems of the New Shepard launch & landing facility as well as the launch vehicle processing facilities. Additionally, you will take part in the requirement definition for new systems and will be responsible for implementing, activating, and maintaining these processing facility systems which interface with New Shepard launch vehicles. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of New Shepard launch operations and maintenance. The Launch Facility Maintenance Engineer reports to the Launch & Landing Complex Manager and will work alongside a multi-disciplined engineering team and technicians to facilitate operation and maintenance of the fluids systems. Our team may also undertake small engineering design projects which add capabilities while improving the safety and reliability of the fluid systems. Your mission and safety critical work will ensure the launch and processing facilities are current on preventative maintenance for flight or ground test operations and ensure the processing facility systems are operational for vehicle refurbishment. You will draft and review work orders for routine and corrective maintenance procedures, understand configuration of the facility and equipment, and be proficient in the contents of system safety products. We are a small team that delivers results and demonstrates grit in the face of challenges. We work with intra-company functional groups, such as Test and Launch engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality, as well as contracted vendors to increase our throughput; being a team player is a must.
This position is based in Van Horn, TX. Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance, etc. Eligibility is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or work on site a minimum of 50% of the time.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in engineering and direct experience with integrated system testing or similar technical hands-on experience
  • Capability for defining maintenance requirements, authoring maintenance procedures, scheduling preventative maintenance, and reporting preventative maintenance status.
  • Experience maintaining and operating complex fluid systems and its components.
  • Confirmed strong ability and desire to understand sophisticated systems, investigate and tackle challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment
  • Proven understanding of pressurized gas systems, fluid systems, instrumentation, and controls
  • Experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety
  • Experience with comprehending system schematics/P&ID using software such as AutoCAD P&ID.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication techniques, integration processes, test planning, and quality control
  • Experience with test facility instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems
  • Must be able to work under pressure and takes initiative to improve existing systems, processes, and documentation
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our culture of inclusion
Desired:
  • Proficiency in LabView, MATLAB, P6, and JIRA
  • Experience with software programming languages such as C++, Java, Python or other languages.
  • Technical expertise in launch facility maintenance
  • Expertise in designing and supervising maintenance programs on sophisticated systems.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools and data management
  • Experience with product data management (PDM) software such as PTC Windchill.
  • Design experience for various fluid distribution systems
