Description

The work we do at the Kentucky Division for Air Quality has a direct impact on the health, welfare and economic security of all Kentuckians. To ensure that economic growth occurs while preserving existing air resources, the Division for Air Quality's Emission Inventory Section is required to collect emission inventories containing criteria pollutants and submit them to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency pursuant to the Air Emissions Reporting Requirements.

We currently have an opening for an Environmental Engineer Assistant I in the Division’s Program Planning and Administration Branch. We are seeking candidates with planning, time management, and organizational skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. This Environmental Engineer Assistant I position will provide you the opportunity to work across branches within the Division, with the regulated community, and other agencies.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs beginning level, technical reviews of annual emission surveys.
  • Evaluates technical reviews of emissions entered into the Kentucky Emissions Inventory System.
  • Updates the Kentucky Emissions Inventory System.
  • Provides assistance to regulated sources in the submittal of annual emissions surveys;-Reviews emission surveys for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides training to branch staff regarding entry of emissions data into the Kentucky Emissions Inventory System database.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering approved by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Frequent travel throughout the state may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
