*This position can telework 100% from any location in Texas consistent with HHS telework policies. Applicants from outside Texas must be willing to relocate within 30 days of hire.*

Oversees and manages the DSHS application and server monitoring program leveraging Dynatrace. Will onboard application teams from beginning to end, including demonstrations, requirements gathering, configuration, and training. The specialist also assists in maintaining and supporting the Dynatrace infrastructure. Develops documents, exercises, strengthens agency IT monitoring plans, and verifies state and federal mandates compliance. Collaborates with system owners to build monitoring capabilities and desires. Analyzes, documents, and provides updates to the system owners. Collaborates with SMEs to validate application architecture and dependencies. Collaborates with subject matter experts (SME) and/or vendors to develop and coordinate monitoring reviews and plans. Communicates Monitoring status and/or updates to HHSC management during monitoring alerts.



Essential Job Functions:
Develops, implements, maintains and/or evaluates monitoring strategies, plans, and procedures for DSHS critical applications and/or business programs.

Serves as subject matter expert and liaison with service providers, application development teams, to develop monitoring plans, activities, documentation, and services.

Help create dashboards for Dynatrace metrics, as well as metrics coming from other sources.

Develop processes to proactively monitor and alert for critical business transactions and applications

Represents the agency during IT performance discussions.

Deploy and configure Dynatrace agents to a diverse set of environments including Linux, Solaris, Azure Service Fabric, and Windows.

Coordinates monitoring reviews with the agency application teams and the contracted DCS and non-DCS vendors.

Performs related work as assigned.

  • Ability to plan and organize activities and communications to achieve results related to IT services

  • Ability to work occasional overtime and/or a flexible schedule as needed to meet required deadlines

  • Ability to travel as necessary

  • Ability to comply with all agency policy and applicable laws

  • Ability to comply with all applicable health and safety rules, regulations, and standards


  • Registration or Licensure Requirements:
    None


    Initial Selection Criteria:
  • Experience in the following areas: Application and Server Performance required.

  • Experience with server/application performance monitoring required.

  • Understanding of Texas state agency IT-related processes and requirements preferred

  • Understanding project management processes, tools, and methodologies; experience in task/schedule management and risk/issue management; planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating multiple priorities preferred.

  • Experience using ITSM, ServiceNow, and CMDB systems preferred.

  • Experience with Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes preferred.

  • Experience coordinating the development, training, and exercise of a performance plan preferred.
