Job Summary
Fields/Discipline: Model-Based Systems Engineering
The School of Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Research Engineer I with a strong background in the field of model-based system engineering (MBSE), along with relevant concepts in related engineering domains. Experience in model-based systems engineering includes, but is not limited to, SysML, requirements analysis and systems engineering along with experience in optimization, simulation and toolset interoperability and multi-discipline collaboration.
The applicant must demonstrate a strong background in the field of model-based system engineering, along with relevant concepts in related engineering domains. A minimum of B.S. degree and 3 years of experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) or M.S. and 1-2 years experience is required. This includes but is not limited to SysML, requirements analysis and systems engineering. The applicant should have demonstrated experience in optimization, simulation and toolset interoperability. Multi-discipline collaboration is a plus.
The applicant must have demonstrated experience with applications specifically related to the aviation industry. Proficiency with tools such as Matlab, SolidWorks, Cameo/Magic Draw, and OpenMBEE is required.
The applicant must demonstrate evidence of a strong research background, including experience on relevant technical projects, and papers presented at technical conferences.
The candidate must demonstrate prior leadership experience and be willing to mentor undergraduate/graduate student researchers. The applicant must be able to coordinate projects individually, or with other Research Faculty in a multi disciplinary team environment.
The applicant is also expected to engage in exploring collaboration opportunities with government agencies, academia and industry. A certain level of outreach to participate in technical committees, working groups and academic societies is expected. The applicant must also be prepared to offer course lectures, lab sections, or invited talks. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a requirement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
