Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The NASA SES III contract provides services to include the design, development, implementation, and integration of science data processing applications and technology; supports instrument, spacecraft, and mission development. The Science Data Processing Branch (Code 587) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as an EGSE Software and GUI Developer to support LESSH development efforts. Location: This position is a hybrid position and will require a level of onsite support. Candidate must be able to support the East Coast time zone and make occasional visits to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Develop software system to command flight data-system hardware or FlatSat equivalent hardware and parse incoming telemetry for data analysis, as well as health and status display.
- Develop supporting control functions to perform laboratory testing on EDUs/FlatSats to be able to perform remote testing including power supply configuration/sequencing and programming varying software images.
- Participate in planning efforts which include reviewing and providing inputs about parts, procurements, and schedule related to GSE system.
- Provide support to develop, modify, fabricate, assemble, and test any software that interacts with GSE components as needed such as, but not limited to, test harnesses, rack wiring, and test chamber hardware.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of PHP, Python, Java, C, C++, FORTRAN.
- Experience with telemetry and command parsing, as well as, designing supporting features for controlling and testing data system hardware (i.e., controlling power supplies and programmers).
- Experience with electrical ground systems for testing, validation, and verification efforts.
- Experience with software version control and NASA software design guidelines.
- Experience with instrumentation of test equipment (e.g., power supplies, current, voltage, resistance measuring, data communication interfaces).
- Desired candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team environment and use knowledge of design with standard laboratory equipment to troubleshoot issues that occur during tests to ensure a quality final product.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with COSMOS/Open C3 to develop, edit, and execute functional scripts to test electrical hardware.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 12 years of professional Web Development
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS degree in related fields in the disciplinary area of Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Software Engineering, or Management of Information Technology
SECURITY CLEARANCE: US Citizenship is required, and Section 508 (Agency Standards) is applicable. Ability to obtain required National Agency Check (NAC) clearance.
