***This position will be filled as an IT Consultant - Telecom depending on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.***
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for day to day operations and administrative functions in support of field telecommunications resources.

Responsible for day to day operations and administrative functions in support of field telecommunications resources.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the IT Section Lead on corporate information technology initiatives.
- Resolve complex technical problems through experience and coordination of efforts with Entergy IT personnel, customers and vendors.
- Recommend, plan, schedule, and execute telecom field and project task.
- Conduct business and analytical studies to integrate business needs into system-wide development plans to ensure customer needs are met.
- Develop strategic and tactical plans.
- Analyze proposed and actual projects in terms of equipment, software and personnel costs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education and experience required of the position
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6+ years of relevant work experience is required OR in lieu of a degree 10+ years of relevant work experience is required.
Advanced degree is a plus
Experience with managing telecommunications networks including fiber, digital microwave, P25 digital radio, and LAN/WAN is a plus. 3 to 5 years’ experience engineering, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting multi-vendor ethernet and internet protocol (IP) networks is a plus Experience accurately creating detailed design drawings for network deployments. Experience with adhering to standard change management processes, to include creating required documentation evaluating change impacts, etc.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Ethernet/IP networks configuration and troubleshooting. RFC2544 and/or Y.1564 ethernet testing. Ciena Packet Switched technology skills a plus. Service provider or vendor certification related to transport or ethernet/IP networking is a plus.
