What you will do!
You will enhance, maintain, and optimize sophisticated software supporting the mission of the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). You will work with a team of software engineers to support the maintenance, operations, infrastructure, performance, and security needs of the ODHS service and claims management system.
You will provide high quality expertise to research, analyze, design, develop, integrate, test, and implement various requested changes including infrastructure, bug fixes, performance optimizations, and security enhancements.
You will identify, design, and integrate enhanced system capabilities.
You will assist in the transition of legacy technology and practices to modern frameworks, platforms, architecture, development tools and automated workflows.
You will have frequent contact with business stakeholders, software and systems engineers, technical contractors, and vendors.
What we are looking for!
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Please clearly outline how you meet the minimum requirements and special qualifications in your application/resume/cover letter. Failure to do so might disqualify you from consideration)
(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in:
- Object Oriented Software Development
- Enterprise Level Relational Database Analysis.
OR
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND four (4) years of information systems experience in:
- Object Oriented Software Development
- Enterprise Level Relational Database Analysis.
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
AND two (2) years of information systems experience in:
- Object Oriented Software Development
- Enterprise Level Relational Database Analysis.
OR
(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND
(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND
two (2) years of information systems experience in:
- Object Oriented Software Development
- Enterprise Level Relational Database Analysis.
Required Skills:
- Advanced level skills programming using Java technologies for web applications
- Advanced level skills with Relational Database Analysis and Design
Preferred Skills:
Experience with the following:
- WebSphere Liberty 9 and Java 11
- IBM DB2 UDB systems and concepts
- Eclipse IDE Liberty 9 Plug In
- Git source control concepts

Working Conditions:
Location / Environment
- The location of this position is in an office, cubicle and/or an agreed upon remote work environment with significant use of a computer and video conferencing
- The conditions in the location of this position may be in high traffic areas with moderate to loud noises, may be in an open landscape environment, and may include exposure to sounds and activity of others in close proximity
- May involve frequent interruptions, multiple online group and individual conversations, and switching between online meetings
- Requires the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, sometimes within short time frames
Schedule
- At times, weekend and evening work will be necessary to meet customer demands and department deadlines
