* Demonstrated pattern of aligning diverse development teams from multiple organizations to a coherent technical vision, from concept to deployment and scaling, and inspiring them to action and delivery complex systems * Experience with eliciting and clarifying business and end user needs, and translating those to requirements * Experience leading technical collaborations and creating alignment across diverse groups (e.g., technical disciplines, subsystem teams, development partners) * Ability to identify and analyze dependencies, tradeoffs, and sensitivities across multi-disciplinary systems * Strong working knowledge across a range of relevant technical areas (systems engineering; dynamics systems modeling; queuing theory; robotics/automation domain expertise; hardware development; enterprise software; optimization/CV/ML algorithms)

Amazon Robotics is creating a new generation of complex warehouse automation solutions to deliver delightful new capabilities to our Operations partners and ultimately enable faster, more reliable fulfillment for all our Amazon customers. Amazon Robotics Chief Engineers work across teams and stakeholders to clarify customer problems, identify technical alternatives explore tradeoffs, and align execution teams around the technical vision. This role will work closely with Operations customers, technical leads, and integration partners, and will report directly to TBD. In this role, you will:

  • Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives for complex, multidisciplinary robotics and automation problems, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale
  • Define and/or build quantitative models and analyses (Excel, MATLAB, Python, internal tools) to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across the integrated systems of systems
  • Identify design choices and critical decision points to ensure our products are safe, reliable, and usable, and can be deployed and supported at Amazon scale and speed
  • Work with the tech leads to break development into major integration & test and performance milestones
  • Lead the teams in connecting top level business needs to the high-level systems requirements, negotiating key external interfaces, and allocating functions and performance budgets across system or subsystems.
  • Plan and drive periodic checkpoint program/design reviews to create alignment and transparency on progress, priorities, goals, and issues across the team and stakeholders.

* Experience with warehouse automation operations and process flows * Experience applying program management best practices * 10+ years of experience leading complex system design and development teams * BS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM discipline * Master’s level degree in an Engineering field * 15+ years of experience Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $233,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
