About the job:
The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Software Quality Engineering Intern to join us. In this role, you will work as part of a team in charge of testing our innovative technology in the Linux domain, focusing on Red Hat OpenShift. You'll need to have a passion for and interest in software testing, as you will test and improve components of our technologies while working alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community.

The key focus for Red Hat's Intern Program is a dual partnership between the early talent team and our intern managers. We can offer you professional development, social engagement and networking, performance and development, and meaningful work throughout your time at Red Hat.
What you will do:
As a technical intern in this role, you will:
  • Work closely with peers to perform and improve manual and automated testing
  • Create and maintain test plans and test cases, then review test cases with the team
  • Work on test case automation
  • Work on bug reporting and verification
  • Work on documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current cloud technologies
What you will bring:
  • This internship is open to students who are graduating in 2024-2025
  • Ability to work full-time July - December
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing work environment, handle multiple tasks, and maintain high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system (any distribution)
  • Coding experience in languages like Go or Python
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
The following are considered a plus:
  • Previous code contributions to or participation in open source projects or code samples on GitHub
  • Involvement in a open source community
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, container technologies, JavaScript, or Bash scripting
  • Relevant software testing experience
  • Advanced knowledge of computer system architecture and computer networking
