GENERAL FUNCTION
The Applications Developer works on the Luxottica’s Retail IT Team developing software solutions in support of Luxottica Brand’s strategic business objectives. Works to develop software with a diverse team utilizing Luxottica’s development methodology. The Applications Developer is responsible for specific development tasks using design best practices, analytical skills, creating detail designs from requirements, building solutions from design, utilizing the technologies listed below.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owns development and works with leads in the design of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems.
- Performs application programming activities. Codes, tests, debugs.
- Works with business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of system and determine priority of needs.
- Adheres to standard system processes and enhancements to system. Ensures that solution design adheres to Industry software design best practices.
- Responsible for overall solution design quality.
- Ensures adherence to defined Software Development Life Cycle and Architecture strategy and intent.
- Works with business analysts and business leads to understand the scope of work, priorities, and requirements for development.
- Works with project teams to deliver new capabilities in business applications and/or remediates issues.
- Adheres to department standards in areas of development methodology, architecture, code standards, security, change and configuration management.
- Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs.
- Contributes to defining time tables and project plans.
- Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with existing systems.
- Ensures that required application performance levels are achieved.
- Coordinates coding, testing, implementation and documentation of solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline
- Programming Language Experience
- Experience with Agile/Waterfall Development Methodology
- Experience with Mobile Application Development (Android, Symbian OS, iOS)
- Experience with Healthcare/Insurance industry
- Strong ability to work in a team
- Good overall technical skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Well-organized with good attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Works exceptionally well under high pressure/critical/prod down situations
- Flexibility to work non-business hours on occasion to meet business needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Development Experience Utilizing the Following Technologies:
- Java Services Based Development (SOAP, RMI, Jax-WS, JaxB)
- Java Application Server Development (BEA Weblogic preferred)
- Web User Interface Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP)
- Java Application Development Utilizing a Framework (Core Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Web Flow, Spring Security, Apache Tiles)
- Java JEE Web Container (Servlets, Filters, etc)
- Java Testing (JUnit/Unit Testing)
- Java JDBC/SQL (PL/SQL, DB2/SQL)
- XML Schema Validation
