55ip's Quantitative R&D team is looking for a software developer to implement, test, and maintain the quant platform that provides end-to-end capabilities of a large scale historical & forward-looking simulation framework. The ideal candidate has the ability for full stack software development with a focus on building scalable back testers and working with large volumes of data. Candidates are motivated, problem solvers, team players, and effective developers who want to make a big impact

Job Responsibilities:
  • Take part in the end-to-end development and maintenance of a scalable Quant platform
  • Automate processes using various Cloud based technologies and CI/CD tools
  • Develop tables & SQL queries primarily for PostgreSQL
  • Investigate datasets and implement quality checks
  • Participate in agile development team practices
  • Take part in code reviews ensuring quality meets the highest level of standards
  • Conduct thorough end-to-end unit testing
  • Provide support during testing and post go-live
  • Work closely with quantitative researchers & developers to understand business requirements
  • Evaluate and leverage emerging computational technologies

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
  • Knowledgeable in Python, Pandas, Numpy, GitHub/Bit-Bucket, Jenkins, Jira, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Clear understanding of OOP and software design constructs within a Python context
  • Knowledgeable in various aspects of software development lifecycle, especially Agile Scrum.
  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud based is a strong plus
  • Exposure to financial capital markets data is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer, Electronic or IT Engineering.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of attention to detail, pride in delivering high quality work and willingness to learn
  • Agility: Able to shift gears and react quickly to timely requests
  • Hustle: Self-motivated, proactive, responsive, and willingness to dig into the details
