Software Engineer Principal Radar
Job Description
This position is eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule.
Essential Functions
- Develops, tests, troubleshoots, analyzes and modifies software programs for Range metric tracking radar systems
- Supports Level 2 and 3 testing to qualify radar systems for Launch Range operations
- Plans, conducts, and assists in the execution of radar modification projects
- Organizes and monitors technical development activities to meet performance goals as well as schedule while providing management and guidance to the other software engineers working the project
- Serves as the primary interface for project information to internal management and the customers
- Develops documentation of new or existing programs, as required
- Works with customer(s) to define requirements and provide support
- Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel
Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to quickly grasp the “big picture,” identify critical project/system areas based on key stakeholders’ needs and assist in planning a project to effectively address those needs
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints
- Effective communication skills with demonstrated capability to brief project information to management and customers
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Software Engineering and operating systems programming
- Experience working with Windows and Linux (RedHat and GNU) based computer systems and components
- Experience working with software design principles
- Experience working with computer hardware
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
- Current Security+ or other DoD 8570 Certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
- This position is assigned to Patrick Space Force Base, FL
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
