Job Purpose

The Senior Electrical Power Engineer position helps lead the design, manufacturing and deployment of new product related to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and DCFC (DC Fast Charging). The engineer fulfilling this role will work closely with other engineers on the team and suppliers, to effectively develop, manufacture, and deploy the products while achieving technical, financial, and timing objectives. The successful candidate should have experience with design and analysis of LV power distribution systems (up to 1000V AC and DC), application and selection of components within those systems and electrical product manufacturing experience. The candidate should have an interest in the energy storage and power conversion space.

THIS CAN BE A REMOTE POSITION, BUT CANDIDATE MUST BE LOCATED IN PENNSYLVANIA, MARYLAND, DELAWARE OR NEW JERSEY DUE TO MONTHLY TRAVEL REQUIRED FOR OFFICE MEETINGS (ESTIMATED TRAVEL: 35%)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of internal power distribution systems from point of common coupling to the electrical loads (AC and DC)
• Analyze bi-directional power flow for low and medium voltage AC and DC distribution systems (up to 1000V)
• Conduct electrical system studies (Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonics, etc) on ETAP
• Specify, Select and Apply electrical power distribution material and equipment (cables, terminals, fuses, CB, Transformers, Relays, Meters etc)
• Work with other disciplines to communicate the requirements of the electrical systems within the overall project.
• Design electrical assemblies and electrical harness for manufacturing of BESS and EV Charging
• Develop electrical drawings and equipment Bill of Materials for manufacturing.
• Frequent interface with suppliers, other internal engineering groups and management
• Produce test plans and test reports for relevant hardware systems
• Effectively communicate within a team in meetings and through Microsoft Teams
• Interpret customer site specifications and requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline and 5+ years’ experience
• Advanced Degree (MS or PhD) Electrical Power Engineering or related discipline and 2+ years’ experience
• 8+ years of electrical power distribution systems design experience
• Ability to design, specify, select, and deploy electrical busing, cabling and components including transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, contactors, relays, and meters.
• Experience with power system design tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM or others
• Able to adapt to changes and take ownership of responsibilities assigned.
• Demonstrate the ability to lead in electrical power systems design field and work with minimum guidance.
• Knowledge of practices used in electrical equipment design and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of inverter/converter/EV charger
• Knowledge of state of the art batteries and other energy storage technologies
• Working experience with eMobility is an advantage
• PE Licenses is an advantage
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience with grid tied power system design
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience of Battery ESS
• Experience working with power system equipment suppliers
