Job Summary

The Development Engineer is responsible for supporting a wide variety of development tasks for comfort and data center air conditioning equipment. Activities will include developing new product offerings and integration of purchased components from concept to design to final implementation in selection software used for equipment design. Equipment examples include finned tube coils, AC and EC fans, direct evaporative media, heat recovery equipment, etc. While focus will be on design tools and fundamental performance rating models, tasks may include integration with mechanical and electrical systems of installed equipment based on candidate skills and interests.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop new product offerings from concept to manufacturable design and BOM
  • Support engineering aspects of selection software used internally and externally for equipment sales, including
    • Develop/support new program features in equipment selection software
    • Support equipment selection software validation and integrity
  • Work cross-functionally with all project stakeholders, requiring strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise
  • Work directly with material vendors on component sourcing and selection
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing during production and testing
  • Participate in and lead group discussions and Web Meetings regarding projects
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts of fluids, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Self-starter. Ability to solve problems, take responsibility and deliver results with a spirit of innovation and strong commitment to excellence
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office Software – such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with Python, MatLab, EES or other engineering calculation software
    • Understanding of psychrometrics
    • 2D and 3D CAD skills
    • Mechanical and/or electrical design experience
