Concept of Operations and Mission Planning Systems Engineer - Human Landing System (HLS)
Job Description
In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Concept of Operations (ConOPs) and Mission Planning Systems Engineer (SE) to work with HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs.
The ConOps and Mission Planning SE in this role will aid in the development and integration of aerospace structures and systems related to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and commercial space customers. Primary tasks include the definition and revision of spacecraft concepts of operations and conduct of mission planning.
The ConOps and Mission Planning SE will work alongside the spacecraft Senior Systems Engineer (LSE) in the definition and revision of the spacecraft concept of operations. The ConOps and Mission Planning SE will review demands and study system models to ensure the ConOps is manifested in the design. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of the concept of operations activities, system functions, risks, and verifications are updated with verification, validation, and certification objectives, results, and notices. The ConOps and Mission Planning SE will maintain the MBSE ConOps model consistent with the design maturity.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in system engineering, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute. Candidates will have 2 years or less of related work history in system engineering or systems exploration. Candidates will have history collaborating within a team environment and have practice in mentoring & guiding team members.
Candidates will be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Other Qualifications
Preferred candidates may possess master’s degrees in system engineering, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute with 2 years or less of related work history. Preferred candidates may have relevant work history and/or working knowledge of the following:
- NASA, DoD, or commercial space industry
- Space flight hardware
- Large-scale, human-rated space flight development
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) system model development and application
