Job Description
Position Summary:
MLB Network seeks a Production Systems Engineer to provide support for the Network's Production department. The Production Systems Engineer must provide technical support for the Network's editorial equipment and creative tool-sets, production user bases, content storage and have an eye on relevant emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and maintain an enterprise class Adobe Creative Cloud production system and editing environment.
- Provide technical support to 3D motion designers and software suites including but not limited to Cinema 4D, Redshift, Autodesk Maya, Chaos V-Ray, and Unreal Engine.
- Knowledge and understanding of software plug-ins and licensing methods as they relate to each software suite.
- Reference and update any technical documentation of systems under their purview.
- Deploy and maintain Windows System Images using Manage Engine supporting all production user groups across MLB Network and its partners.
- Support newsroom production systems including but not limited to ENPS, Ross Inception, Overdrive and Xpression, VizRT, EVS IP Director and Autoscript WinPlus.
- Technical understanding and experience with cloud production tools such as but not limited to OBS, vMix, RCS Singular, Frame.io, Kiswe, Tagboard.
- Provide technical support for remote and hybrid-style productions and live events.
- Support remote file-delivery of video and graphic elements to remote trucks
- Knowledge and understanding of VizRT real-time graphic render engine platform.
- Follow and improve engineering workflow solutions to support Editorial Operations.
- Work with teammates and managers on environment planning for our production facilities.
- Other duties as required.
Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in Post Production, Media and Broadcast facilities.
- Demonstrated superior troubleshooting capabilities in solving media workflow problems on an individual user or systemic level.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software, with deep knowledge of Premiere Pro and After Effects and supporting software applications.
- In-depth knowledge of computer and IT network systems, with proficiency in Active Directory, Windows Workgroups, Font Servers, MS Windows Services, NDI protocols and SAN environments.
- Knowledge of codec and transcoding solutions for multimedia, cloud and web applications.
- Knowledge of archival procedures and delivery methods.
- Working knowledge of HD television production systems.
- Strong written, oral and organizational skills and the ability multi-task in a fluid broadcast environment.
- Recommend and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, decisiveness and strong interpersonal skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, twist, and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
- Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess a level of hearing sufficient for effective interaction with stakeholders by various means, including in-person, intercom, phone, etc.
- Ability to occasionally travel to domestic and/or international locations.
Education: Bachelor's degree in broadcast technology, IT, or Technical Communications or equivalent related experience.
