The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for design and development of next generation platforms. In this hands-on role, you will work with Biotechnology R&D, Firmware, Mechanical, Optical, and Electrical Engineering, Firmware, Software, and other interdisciplinary groups to design, define, and test various instrument components/systems. The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of laboratory experiments in support of Biochip R&D projects.
This position is part of the Biochip R&D Team and will be located in Sunnyvale. Intellectual honesty and agility, with the ability to pivot based on shifting priorities and balance multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment, are key.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Design and development of next generation diagnostic platforms
• Ability to do hands-on design, building prototypes and perform testing to evaluate system feasibility and arriving at the requirements.
• Analyze complex data via statistical methods and provides written and oral reports and updates to senior and executive management.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware Engineering, Innovation, Biotechnology R&D, Consumables R&D, NPI, Firmware, Software, Technical Support, Service, and other functions

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in field with 5-to-6 years of related work experience OR

Master’s degree in field with 3 -to-4 years of related work experience

OR Doctoral degree in field with 0-to-2 years of related work experience. Degree in Engineering, or a related technical discipline as a hands-on engineer, R&D scientist, or similar

• Hands on-lab experience in EE/firmware/engineering R&D discipline with ability to write scripts in Python, MATLAB or other programming languages
• Detail oriented, proactive, and driven and works with minimal guidance.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience in medical device or biotechnology company or projects

The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
