WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role requires someone who wants to build skill working side by side with other engineers on AWS deployments of microservices, providing guidance on performance testing including tooling, setup, creation of simulations, and evaluation of results. This role provides consultation to engineering teams to help get them going but does not implement any day-to-day testing.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will be a valuable part of a Nike team that specializes in software performance – we aid other engineering teams in performance testing, cluster and instance optimizing, and general performance best practices.

• Instruct engineers on how to set up performance tooling, run load simulations, and trend results.

• Triage intake and support requests and partner with customers through to resolution.

• Listen to customer needs and help develop customized performance test plans.

• Assist with building, testing, and deploying performance engineering tools and dashboards.

• Evangelize innovative performance engineering practices across Nike’s global technology ecosystem.

• R&D for tools and new technologies.

• Establish standard processes, assist with launch and holiday moments, and maintain oversight of performance across Nike’s global experiences.

• Help set up automated testing pipelines.

• Help analyze results and provide suggestions based on our observations.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This role reports into the Observability Performance Tools & Analytics team. Performance Observability Engineers engage with other leaders and developers from many different Nike Global Technology teams. Anyone crafting a production critically important service or application will benefit from your knowledge to be successful.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of Software development experience, deployment pipeline experience (Jenkins preferred), CI/CD concepts, monitoring tools, and general cloud knowledge (AWS preferred.)

• Soft skills for training / mentoring other engineers, requirements gathering, working with reluctant engineers, and results presentation.

• Experience with Gatling performance testing.

• Experience with API development, cloud resource management, CI/CD, Agile development, DevOps.

• Experience with performance testing

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with management, technical peers, and business partners.
