Job Description:
Summary
Design and execute CCUR's fee-for-service projects in Food Processing area and Industrial Fermentation area. The candidate needs to understand the principles as well as practical operations of various equipment in CCUR pilot plant and fermentation facility, including, but not limited to, pilot scale fermenters, centrifuges, tangential flow filtration system, the high pressure homogenizer, supercritical CO2 extractor, and spray drier. The position will also work with CCUR Associate Director to maintain the facility to ensure the smooth operation of the pilot plant, and establish standard operation protocols (SOPs).
The Technical Project Specialist II will work closely with Research Scientists to implement the projects into a pilot large scale.
This is a two year term position with excellent opportunity for renewal.
Example of Duties
- Develops and manages technical project plans; suggests options for improving quality and delivery, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions; and is accountable for project milestones.
- Utilizes technical expertise to provide guidance and collaborate in the development of new techniques, experimental design, products, equipment, and/or processes to meet project deliverables.
- Operates with considerable latitude to overcome technical challenges and project decisions.
- Oversees day-to-day operation of project, including budget, timelines, and deliverables, and provides direction to other project staff.
• Completes technical documentation to show and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations, protocols, and project expectations.• Provides oversight of project and/or processes, while working to maintain optimization of project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Participates in and provides oversight to data collection, data verification, data interpretation and report writing.
- Prepares and presents data and reports to project stakeholders such as senior colleagues, project managers, and/or industry partners.
- May act as liaison to industry and/or university partners depending on project needs.
- May participate in risk assessments of project, equipment, and/or processes.
This is a 2-year term position.

- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
