Summary of Responsibilities:


The EHR Application Analyst (EHRAA) is responsible for primary support of the Electronic Health records applications and is a member the AK Child & Family IT organization. The EHRAA is responsible for:

  • Maintenance
  • Support
  • Requirements definition
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining applications forms and reports to meet Agency needs
  • Implementation and documentation for all applications related to patient records, including all related front-end and back-end business processes.
  • Providing backup support to the IT Support Specialist and Network and Computer Systems Administrator

The EHRAA ensures all EHR applications are functioning effectively, efficiently, to user specifications, and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements such as, but not limited to, HIPAA and The Joint Commission.

The EHRAA is also responsible, along with other IT staff, for:

  • Supporting and managing EHR application access and security
  • Maintaining passwords and role-based access for users
  • Maintaining appropriate security levels for all relevant application systems
  • Coordinating and performing application software development and maintenance as required.

The EHRAA serves as an expert in the use of EHR applications, ensuring accurate and effective utilization by agency staff. The EHRAA works with agency staff and training resources to identify and define effective staff training and support programs. The EHRAA maintains and updates user manuals and procedural documentation for the EHR applications as required.

PAY:

  • DOE

Supervision and Coordination of Services:


SUPERVISION AND COORDINATION OF SERVICES

  • The EHRAA reports directly to the IT Manager.
  • The EHR Application Analyst (EHRAA) is a member of the Information Systems department and works collaboratively with other AK Child & Family employees and external providers/contractors.



Qualifications:


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The EHRAA demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of modern EHR technology and its application in a health services organization.
  • The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to understand requests and user needs, ensuring they are successfully incorporated into the agency’s EHR solutions.
  • The EHRAA is required to research problems (troubleshoot) and develop effective solutions on a timely basis.
  • The EHRAA must work within specified timelines to deliver quality results and must be able to work independently. Strong verbal, written and organizational skills are required.
  • A valid Alaska driver’s license and an adequately insured vehicle are needed for use on the job.
  • Ability to work in a team/workgroup environment, with staff at all levels is essential.

Education and Experience:

  • Four years progressively responsible EHR experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a role providing primary EHR application support as defined above in the Summary of Responsibilities, for a health services organization, preferably a mental health services provider.
  • Two years demonstrated experience working with relational databases and associated reporting tools or a combination of experience and equivalent college computer course work or certifications is required.
  • Experience with accessing and reporting on electronic medical records data using Crystal Reports is preferred.



Physical Demands:


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The EHRAA must have the ability to drive to AKCF sites, and other destinations requested by supervisor, to efficiently and effectively evaluate applications problems and perform troubleshooting functions on AK Child & Family’s campuses
  • Must possess the ability to conduct business via telephone and remotely via computer
  • The EHRAA must also have the ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, within the agency and with external business partners and vendors
