Optics Test Integration Engineer
Job Description
At CACI, we specialize in the design, development and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art systems for military, space, and commercial applications. Our products include optical and RF communication systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems.
We are currently looking for an Integration and Test Engineer with experience in developing and testing space based optical systems. Responsibilities include:
- Development of test plans and setup of test benches for optical and electronic hardware
- Bring-up prototypes, including some debugging and bench software to execute tests
- Execute conventional and space reliability tests, and report results against industry-standards
- Develop and implement space qualification process of optical systems
- Design, build and run optical and/or communication performance-tests
- Support specifying optical, electrical and mechanical component selection
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:
- BS EE or equivalent experience. +5 years’ experience with an optical communication signal processing
- Experience with free space optics test and alignment procedures
- Ability to rapidly come up to speed on existing products and test systems.
- Experience working with complex R&D products; complex meaning multiple components
- Experience working with electronics
- Ability to read and analyze schematics to understand interfaces and drivers
- Ability to take a complex problem, reduce it to solvable components, and propose test approaches
- Basic knowledge pertaining to the use of lab test equipment, such as OSA, BERT, optical power meters, Laser sources and Beam profilers.
- Knowledge of python programming language.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired but not required:
- Experience with environmental test and equipment for space applications, such as TVAC
- Experience with space payloads, e.g. hardware deployed to space
- Experience Zemax Optics or other Laser Beam Profiling and Wavefront Analysis software
