Quality Engineer

Reports to: Quality Manager of Manufacturing

Job Summary: Accountable for implementing quality control processes decided on by Management. Responsible for all testing activities and ensuring all testing equipment and supplies are adequate to complete all testing activities. Identifies issues related to quality and initiates action for their correction and/or stop any activity that violates the laboratory’s quality standards. Complete projects and assignments in a timely and effective manner. Supervise Quality Department personnel and ensure all employees are properly trained using procedures and work instructions of the Laboratory Quality Program.

Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of but are not limited to the following:

Quality Control/Assurance:

• Supervise Quality Department personnel and coordinate general workload and other testing lab activities
• Provide training to Quality Department personnel or any individual whose work affects established quality standards
• Fully understand the requirements of all applicable ASTM, ASME, AWWA, ISO, etc. standards
• Interface with other departments to provide assistance and resolve issues as required
• Issue corrective actions as needed to effectively correct nonconformities
• Oversee Receiving Inspection process (i.e. heat treating, galvanizing, coating, etc.) as needed
• Effectively communicate test results with Shipping and Outside Services (as needed) to notify when products are approved to ship
• Effectively manage and complete all assigned projects using proven project management tools and techniques in an efficient manner
• Maintain the Nonconformance and Vendor Nonconformance Logs

Quality Testing Lab:

• Responsible for all testing activities
• Implement and maintain documented Laboratory Quality Program that meets customer requirements
• Purchase equipment, tools, supplies and hardware needed for the laboratory
• Review customer proposals to determine quality requirements
• Responsible for scheduling calibrations of equipment and instruments both externally and internally through use of GAGETrak
• Maintain the Testing Tracker system (Lots tested, testing revenue, etc.)
• Invoice Lab customers for testing services
• Maintain accreditation of the ISO 17025 program, including the Laboratory Quality Manual and supporting documents
• Responsible for overall cleanliness and appearance of the Quality Lab

Required Education:

• Engineering degree, Mechanical or Materials preferred.
