Seeking an experienced frontend engineer to work with us as a contractor, contributing to the development of user-facing software used for maintaining and troubleshooting our fleet of purpose-built autonomous vehicles. This software includes control panels that interface directly with the automotive and AI systems on our robots over a low-level, binary protocol.

As a contractor on our team, you will be responsible for building scalable, high-quality frontend applications that deliver exceptional user experiences to our growing in-house user base. You will also be working with cross-functional teams to design and implement features that meet their needs.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a proven track record of building robust, user-friendly interfaces for complex systems, as well as experience working with low-level protocols and interfacing with hardware. You should be comfortable working independently and collaborating with our team to integrate your work into our existing codebase.

Scope of Work:

• Migrate Vue.js components to React in an existing, large application
• Migrate legacy Vue stores to in-house state management layer
• Write component snapshot tests using Jest
• Build and maintain software control panels for vehicle components
• Build and maintain interactive workflows for operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks

Qualifications:

• Fluency with React, TypeScript, HTML & SCSS
• Familiarity with GIT
• Experience building accessible and performant user-facing web applications
• Proven written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work on remote teams

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience using Vue.js or other modern frontend UI frameworks
• Experience with CSS-in-JS libraries, such as Styled-Components, Emotion, or Linaria
• Experience writing UI snapshot component tests
• Experience building dashboards and/or data visualization frontends
• Experience building real-time and/or data intensive applications
• Experience using component libraries based off of Material UI

Pay Range: 70-85/hr.
