Position Overview
Marathon Petroleum Corporation LP seeks a process controls engineer for its Minnesota refinery located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. This position supports refinery operations and capital projects by troubleshooting, developing, and tuning various control strategies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains and improves the economic and HES performance of installed refinery controls.
  • Initiates, develops, and implements new process control strategies.
  • Progresses Process Control initiatives, e.g., controller migrations to new DCS technologies.
  • Provides capital and expense project support. Reviews project documents, drawings, equipment specifications and control loop narratives.
  • Leads teams to support refinery activities, e.g., alarm management, incident investigations, and Management of Change.
  • Responds to process unit control upsets during off hours. Shares on-call duty with department engineers.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two-plus years’ experience as process control engineer, including implementing and maintaining regulatory control and/or multi-variable control strategies.
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS (Experion and/or TDC).
