The role as Server Engineer is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing hardware, software, and server communication links. This role is also responsible for data center, cloud servers, security systems and other electronic infrastructure.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the day-to-day operations, updating, patching and maintenance of the company's server and storage infrastructure.

Configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Hypervisor, Azure, and VMware technologies.

Administration of the PRG Active Directory systems.

Assists in the backup and recovery of company digital assets.

Assist other project members during system installation and commissioning.

Provide support on internal and external projects.

Assist in the specifying and procurement of hardware and software.

Assists in the cabling and configuration of server and storage networks.

Assist in performing server cyber security tasks.

Execute Hardware Factory Acceptance Tests (HFAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).

Install and support cloud-based application/services. (Azure Compute, Apps, Automation, Services, Storage)

Experience with PowerShell and other scripting tools
Qualifications:


Competencies

  • 5+ years of specialized IT experience in Windows / Linux administration to include Active Directory services and file / print services.
  • Citrix or other VDI Experience
  • CompTIA A+ certification required.
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • Competency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving system and network related issues on servers, desktops, peripherals, and related equipment. Wide experience with a variety of systems and environments.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and use new types of information.
  • Persistence to see a problem through to its resolution and ability to research viable solutions when encountering resistance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products and operating systems.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and digital tools.
  • Collaborator who is self-motivated but can work independently as needed.
  • Able to work off-hours and weekends as needed for maintenance, upgrades, installations, etc.


Travel Required

  • Travel as needed to PRG Locations


Required Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Microsoft certification
