The Software Programmer reviews, creates or modifies code, debugs, and releases host computer software updates for the E-3 DRAGON flight training devices.

Candidates should have in-depth understanding of real-time programming concepts, cybersecurity policies, and sufficient technical knowledge and experience to implement them.

The candidate will identify, track, correct, and document discrepancies found in the E-3G DRAGON training devices. The candidate will manage Government approved training baselines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modify and test host software (Fortran, C++, Python, etc.) changes to resolve approved change requests.
  • Apply information technology security principles and configure security settings on the design, development, integration, and analysis of classified computing systems and networks in various operating modes; to include Servers/Clients, Windows, LINUX, PC Desktops, LAN management, secure network links and supported applications.
  • Scan systems for vulnerabilities, compiles data, prepares risk assessments and mitigation plans, and prepares procedures for testing software and equipment. Duties include software installation and verification, troubleshooting, integration of COTS material, windows administration, as well as network device configuration and verification.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Aerodynamics, or equivalent job experience
  • Proficient in MS Word, Visio, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint applications
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), Tenable Network Security Nessus, or similar
  • DoD 8570 certification of CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). Certification within 6 months is required per DoD Directive 8570.01M (e.g., Security+, CISSP).

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for Top Secret DoD Security Clearance.

Work Environment

This job operates in professional office and computer environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for Top Secret DoD Security Clearance.
  • Capable of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to ascend into a simulator device
  • Able to climb onto simulator device hard-to-reach areas
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Focused visual concentration and active listening skills
  • Able to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds and manual dexterity to bend, stoop, squat and stand for prolonged periods
  • Will occasionally have to move items over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to sit and operate a personal computer for long periods
  • Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities at multiple training sites
  • Limited travel may be required
