Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives associated with development of BWRX-300 technology. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization. Involved in long-term planning. Essential Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long range BWRX-300 technology challenges, focused on MNISS.
- Provide technical consultation on MNISS for the BWRX-300, including engaging nuclear QA qualified suppliers.
- Lead and provide the key technical direction to MNISS.
- Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art for BWRX-300 mechanical system design to anticipate, apply, adapt, or develop technologies for product introduction, quality, performance, cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs.
- Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
- Use knowledge and expertise to market winning proposals in anticipation of business product needs.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new and experienced engineers, specialists, technicians, Edison Engineers, and interns.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
- At least 12 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity
Desired Characteristics:
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
- Problem analysis and resolution skills
- Experience and expertise in the design and operation of existing commercial nuclear Boiling Water Reactors and in-depth knowledge of BWR mechanical systems
- Demonstrated leadership in defining the state-of-the-art LWR-enhanced/advanced BWR mechanical system design, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices within the LWR-enhanced/advanced BWR reactor field
- Considered an expert in LWR-enhanced/advanced BWR mechanical system design as documented by participation in professional standards committees such as ASME or ANS and participation in presentation of GEH product lines at NRC, ACRS, CNSC and similar bodies.
- Relocation to Wilmington, NC is strongly preferred.
The salary range for this position is $125-185k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
