Job Description
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or other acceptable engineering discipline from an accredited university or college and 8 years of progressive, relevant engineering experience. Or, Associate degree in engineering from an accredited university or college and 12 years of progressive, relevant, engineering experience.

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
-
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
-
Must be 18 years of age or older.
-
Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
-
Must be willing and able to work in an industrial environment that is in close proximity to and/or in a demilitarization facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Demonstrated practical application of engineering theories and concepts associated with construction, commissioning, system testing, and operation of facilities handling hazardous, radioactive, explosives, ammunition, or toxic materials.
-
Startup/operational engineering experience in an industrial facility.
-
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle license.
Desired Qualifications:
-
Professional Engineer – State affiliation: Alabama
-
Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
-
Competent in developing, analyzing, and modifying complex Distributed Control System (DCS) software, or similar type system, and related Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, along with experience integrating PLCs into a DCS system.
-
Ability to understand logic diagrams.
-
MQ Siemens S7 software and maintenance experience.
-
Demonstrated ability to assist with routine maintenance and repair of stationary equipment.
-
Possess knowledge of hydraulic systems.
-
Experience training staff on design, application functions and configuration.
-
Experience operating, inspecting, and maintaining a material handling conveyor system.
Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks:
-
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

May be required to work overtime or varying hours.

Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

Work in close proximity to and/or in a demilitarization facility.
-
Provide technical support as system expert on mechanical, electrical, process control and operations in accordance with regulatory requirements, procedures and guidelines.
-
Provide close support to maintenance and operational tasks to ensure they are completed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
-
Responsible for providing engineering support for procedure development and configuration management.
-
Recommend modifications and perform periodic design reviews for proposed modifications. Support plant operation, maintenance and testing in a safe, environmentally sound, cost effective, and disciplined manner that protects the health and safety of the workers, the public, and the environment.

Monitors installation of process equipment and systems to assure technical feasibility and adequacy.
-
Analyzes problems and recommends improvements, changes, and value engineering proposals as appropriate.
-
Develops and writes Temporary Configuration Changes (TCC’s) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECP’s) performing engineering to support and maintains proper documentation.

Develops thorough familiarity with plant equipment and systems.
-
Performs technical evaluations of estimates.
-
May provide guidance to assigned personnel in support of system testing and repairs.
-
Serves as a team member for system tests, post maintenance testing and process checkouts.
-
Maintains engineering and operational documentation current.
-
Assists with the preparation and execution of facility plans and procedures as required.
-
Assist in development of test plans and reports as required for the technical support of the SDC.
-
Assist with the development of engineering procedures, operations procedures, and maintenance procedures (preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance).
-
Completes training requirements for their job position as required to complete assigned tasks.
-
Provides technical input and guidance with respect to applicable corrective and preventive maintenance.
-
Analyzes data and generates reports as needed to document data collection and special testing.
-
Must be able to trend system to identify problems and make recommendations for enhancements.
