What will you do
The scientist will work closely with their manger to understand how to improve and build on our End to End Baby R&D pipeline initiatives. They will also partner closely with all functions responsible for launching a product to help assess risk, understand and proactively solve for potential hurdles to ensure successful new product launches. They will develop Baby formulations and processes and execute deliverables for regional and global projects while collaborating with cross functional partners to ensure all timeline deliverables are met.
The Scientist Baby R&D is responsible for:
- The person will own the development of regional and global projects for new Baby products under the supervision of their manager. He/she will formulate products by incorporating consumer insights, Marketing and R&D feedback, perform all formulation tasks including batching, stabilities, Concerto and GSS entries, have the proactive foresight of potential project obstacles and develop risk mitigation plans and troubleshoot formulation issues.
- The candidate will develop a technical expertise in the Baby products area, from feasibility to formulation and process and life cycle management activities.
- He/she will interact with suppliers to bring in new technologies and collaborate with platform team to implement new technologies and optimize the delivery and efficacy of those ingredients.
- He/she will proactively analyze trends and understand our competitive set and how our products can improve on points of uniqueness and differentiation to truly delight the consumer.
- He/she will plan and organize projects, proactively identify areas of risk associated with projects/ ideas/ platforms and evaluate all opportunities to minimize or solve potential issues either internally or externally. Participate in operational project teams.
- He/she will be responsible for the technical transfer of Baby products from a manufacturability and formulation standpoint including the scale up of lab formulations to commercial size. He/she will recommend Design of experiments to define process parameters and work with the manufacturing site to establish process, process controls and equipment needs, trouble shoot processes and carry out APR activities.
- Product and process development/process scale-up
- Identification of critical process parameters at the lab, pilot, full manufacturing scales, processing equipment understanding.
- Product/process specification development
- Process validation.
- Executing the technical aspects of projects,
- Interacting with and/or leading cross-functional teams to implement timely new product introductions.
- Working under the supervision of department managers to drive technical resolutions in manufacturing
- Troubleshooting product issues under aggressive and sometimes compressed timelines.
Qualifications
What we are looking for
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience
OR
- Master’s degree with 2 years of experience,
OR
- PhD with professional pharmaceutical, consumer or manufacturing experience is required.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment while being an individual contributor is required.
- MS Office (Word and Excel) proficiency, excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Solid presentation skills are required.
- Up to 20% travel both Domestic and International Travel is required
- Desired Qualifications
- A degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy, or other science or engineering discipline is preferred
- Experience with consumer products, such as skin care, emulsions, cleansers, hair care, oral care, baby care and/or deodorant products is highly preferred.
- Good technical foundation of formulated products including emulsions, surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids and an understanding of material chemistry is preferred.
- Experience in process development/process scale-up is preferred.
- Working with external manufacturing vendors is a preferred.
- Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements is helpful.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $68,000 to $110,400.
