Job Description
The Information Application Development Engineer will work against Application use-cases from customers and Rockwell Automation to create information applications that make use of automation data and provide visualization, reporting, data manipulation and analytic functions. The Engineer will work across automation, edge, and information platforms, such as Logix Controllers, Smart Objects, FactoryTalk Edge Gateway, Web, View, Database, and IoT using various automation and information programming languages and data representation and visualization techniques.
The engineer develops and communicates best practices in creating information applications to internal and external users. The ideal candidate will be relentless in defining an optimized information application that captures the essence of the underlying manufacturing process. Through this work Rockwell Automation will be able to differentiate domain rich libraries and solutions that enable Industrial IoT / Connected Enterprise systems and architectures.
What you will do:
- Develop Automation Applications using Logix Designer, View Studio, View Designer, Future Rockwell IDE and other Automation centric tools to create optimized data presentation.
- Develop Information Applications based on FT Edge Gateway and Innovation Suite Tools that visualize, analyze and optimize data collection and presentation. Information Applications.
- Develop of information applications will require code creation in JavaScript, C#, C++, others as required with frontend and backend components.
- Participate, keep informed and drive awareness in Rockwell Automation around the evolution of Industry Standards that support Information Presentation and Information Communication (OPC UA, OMAC, Industry 4.0, Fieldbus Standards, FLC and others).
- Work with other groups in Strategic Development on the evolution of gateway and cloud portfolios to be part of the information application architecture.
- Provide input to technical concepts and potential commercialization strategies.
- Identify intellectual property and become part of Common Connected Applications’ patent development.
- Consult with the Common Connected Applications Management and Business Product Management on roadmap development, value propositions, commercial selling models.
- Where required provide input into patent and licensing schemes for selected intellectual property relevant content.
- Ability to travel globally, based on business requirements.
- On a regular basis develop proactive communication with resources across product and application development
- Establish credibility and domain expertise, be known as a contributor that helps the development process.
- Ability to interface and communicate with domain experts across external and internal customers, partners, application content providers, industry teams, solution delivery and Product Businesses to define the best representation of data in automation, edge, and enterprise layers.
- Proactively drive others to become part of the development work and facilitate as much as develop – become a role model that others can follow / that others want to follow.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data Science or in a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
- Expert as C#, Dot Net developer.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript,
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation core products and systems (i.e. PLCs, HMI products, Networking, Software, and I/O).
- Knowledge of Automation Application– understands how Automation Systems work, understands, how they are developed, how they are planned and structured.
- Experience (5 years or more) in development of edge and IOT applications
