What You'll Do
Responsibilities include:
- Interfaces directly with project managers to define the details of audit and surveillance scopes
- Prepares audit checklists for quality assurance audits of project program/plans to assess implementation of the Quality Assurance Program
- Leads audit teams to ensure accurate, thorough and timely completion of approved scope
- Mentors associates and subject matter experts on the audit process
- Analyses data on project performance to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of project procedures, programs, and processes
- Proactively provides in-process and final results to the assessed organizations
- Documents the results of audits and surveillances in accordance with Quality Department procedures and the project
- Enter issues identified into the UPF Project's Corrective Action Program and facilitate corrective action closure
- Reviews and monitors nonconforming conditions and associated corrective actions
- Reviews and reports on selected technical and administrative documents to ensure the inclusion of applicable quality requirements
- Reviews and reports on project associated quality-related procedures and manuals for conformance to project QA program/plan requirements
- Assists in the development and maintenance of project and corporate Quality Department procedures
- Reviews and reports on new or revised regulatory requirements and their impact on the established QA program
- Follows up on actions taken in response to issues to assure adequacy of completed corrective actions

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
- OR a Master's degree and a minimum 1 year of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
- OR PhD
- Ten or more years of relevant education, training, and/or experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- The candidate should have experience in Nuclear Quality Requirements programs including certification as a Lead Auditor or the ability to obtain Lead Auditor Certification within a year of employment
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or quality assurance from an accredited university or college
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations or quality assurance; in lieu of degree, an equivalent combination of education and relevant years of responsible work experience
- The candidate must have a strong working knowledge and understanding of DOE Policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the quality management system
- Current or recent Lead Auditor Certification in a nuclear environment in accordance with a recognized national standard
- Working knowledge of, or experience with the development of specifications, drawings, material requisitions, services requisitions, purchase orders, subcontracts, and interfacing with suppliers
- Working knowledge in the application of construction, engineering, procurement, operations, commissioning, training, environmental safety & health, and subcontract practices sufficient to comprehend regulatory requirements applicable to said applications
- Knowledge of the application of corrective actions for conditions adverse to quality
- Knowledge of the application of nonconformance and deficiency reports for nonconforming or deficient items
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the QA program
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently
- Ability to use a computer and have intermediate to excellent skills in Microsoft Office Software
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and application of 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.lD, national consensus standard ASME NQA-1-2008/ASME NQA-la-2009 Addenda
- Intermediate to advanced level technical knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, operations, or decommissioning practices sufficient to comprehend specified engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, certification and decommissioning requirements
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge/skills in analyzing information, reporting research results, promoting process improvement and a quality culture, developing standards, managing processes and methods and procedures, quality engineering, conducting statistical analysis and applying statistical analysis methods, critical thinking and problem solving techniques
- Advanced knowledge in system turnover to operations and operational readiness reviews
- Specialized courses in engineering, technical or quality assurance disciplines

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
