POSITION DESCRIPTION: Serve as Central Office Site Coordinator for the Bridge Maintenance (BrM) system. Manage updates and improvements to the Department’s Transportation Asset Management Plan. Assists Districts in the use of AASHTOware Bridge Maintenance to provide life cycle cost comparisons to determine appropriate repair methodologies for bridge repairs. Provide yearly evaluation of funding levels using BrM to the Work Program Office. Prepare performance measures as requested.
Assist the State Bridge Inspection Engineer (SBIE) in providing guidance to Districts and Consultants with regard to the use of the AASHTOWare BrM and the Department’s Bridge Management System (BMS), prepare reports for submittal to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and others within the Department, and provide testing as needed for BrM system update. Provide user support in the implementation and use of bridge information to District, consultant and Central Office users.
Develop, administer, and implement policies, procedures and standards concerning information management for the Statewide Bridge program. Provide support for the development of the Bridge Work Plan for both state and local bridges for periodic reporting and monitoring.
Develop policies, procedures and standards for Bridge Information reporting and analysis.
Assist the SBIE with the coordination of the delivery of the temporary bridge components between the State Aluminum Structures Shop (SASS) and the Contractors, and assist in the inspection of temporary bridge installations, as needed.
Assist the State Bridge Maintenance and Repair Engineer (SBMRE) in preparing the reports for submittal to the FHWA.
Participate in the periodic updates of FDOT Procedures and in Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) for the Office of Maintenance Structures Section, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Engineering Principles, Methods, and Engineering Codes; Knowledge of Bridge Inspections, Design, and/or Construction; Knowledge of Quality Assurance Principles; Knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis Principles; Knowledge of FDOT Standards, Policies, and Procedures; Knowledge of AASHTOWare BrM and BrR Systems; Skilled in the use of Computer Programs; Skilled in dealing with the public and other employees in a tactful and courteous manner; Ability to Plan, Organize, and Coordinate Work Assignments and Projects; Ability to Communicate Effectively Verbally and in Writing; Ability to Learn New Skills; Ability to Travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471, Florida Statutes. Provided the successful applicant has Registration as a Professional Engineer in another state but not in Florida, the applicant will be given six (6) months from the date of hire to secure Registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida.
