Job Summary:
As an Environmental Engineer, you will partner with the Senior Professional Engineer in the administration of the Walt Disney World air compliance program. You will ensure compliance with the Title V Air Operation Permit, Clean Air Act regulations, and the Green House Gas reporting rule and make sure we are in compliance with all State and Federal air quality regulations. This will involve submitting compliance reports, preparing and submitting the annual operating report, updating the operating permit to reflect changes in air emissions and performing engineering evaluations/quantification of new emissions. You will also maintain an inventory of all air emission sources (e.g. emergency generators, boilers, water heaters), emissions recordkeeping, tracking and calculating the annual CO2 emissions, and preparing the Green House Gas Report.
The Environmental Engineer plays an important role in other environmental programs, such as refrigerants, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), hazardous and regulated waste, and storage tank regulations, as assigned. You will be in the field conducting inspections of hazardous waste accumulation areas, conducting hazardous waste training and refrigerant training, and updating SPCC plans as necessary.
You will report to the Manager, Environmental Control
Position Responsibilities
Compliance with State and Federal air regulations
Title V air permit compliance
Member of the Haz-Mat Duty Team which addresses all environmental events on the Walt Disney World property (on call 24/7 approximately one week every two months)
Greenhouse gas compliance program (includes tracking emission units, calculating emissions, GHG report preparation and submittal)
Refrigerant compliance program (includes recordkeeping and conducting compliance training)
Compliance with SPCC rules (includes plan revisions, and recordkeeping)
Compliance with hazardous waste regulations (includes hazardous waste accumulation areas inspections, conducting internal hazardous waste handling training classes)
Basic Qualifications
0-5 years’ of professional work experience
Working knowledge of air regulations and permitting
Ability to understand and apply regulatory rules, regulations, and guidance
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently and within a team
Excellent data organization and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
On track for becoming a Florida licensed P.E.
Knowledge of hazardous & regulated waste, refrigerant, landfill/solid waste, storage tank, and oil spill prevention program (SPCC) regulations
Working knowledge of industrial chemistry (Safety Data Sheet interpretation)
Experience using GIS, CADD, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Required Education
Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (from a certified college/university)
Preferred Education
40 or 24-hour HAZWOPER training certification
