This is where your legacy begins! The Leidos Biology, Chemistry, and Materials Science Branch in the Leidos Innovation Center is currently looking for a Junior Bioengineer to work in our San Diego, California office. We are seeking a broadly trained and highly motivated engineer for advanced technology research and development programs focused on prototype instrument development, characterizations and analysis, testing, and optimizations for a range of biological applications. This is a highly dynamic and integrative environment in which talented and creative scientists and engineers can thrive working on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and engineers and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation
Collaborate with engineers and scientists to automate laboratory processes using commercial and custom hardware in support of government-funded efforts for novel applications
Effectively communicate results, issues, and recommendations in team meetings, progress reports, and customer presentations.
Quickly adapt to evolving research needs, rapidly acquire new scientific and engineering knowledge, and stay informed on new technologies.
Assist in routine lab operations (reagent preparation, etc)
Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of biologists, chemists, mathematicians, statisticians, and engineers. Lead Candidates should follow sound scientific practices and maintain effective documentation of activities and analyses.
Basic Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related discipline with at least 2 years of technical experience or a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience (technical experience obtained through schooling can be counted towards total years of experience).
Experience collecting and processing data from biological experiments and condensing results into reports or presentations
U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Team-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with people from diverse areas and disciplines
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with computer modeling and simulation
Programming experience for Graphical User Interface development
Familiarity with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques and previous laboratory experience is a plus
Possess US government Security Clearance
Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
