Who We Are Looking For
The APS Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical direction for all continuous improvement activities, for North America Grain & Protein facilities. He/she will have direct supervision over shared services resources, as well indirect supervision (dotted line) over the APS manages at the Assumption, Illinois, Taylorville, Illinois, Paris, Illinois, Bremen, Alabama, and St. Hubert, Quebec, Canada facilities. He/she will also provide support as needed at our Clearlake, Iowa, Sioux City, Iowa, and Newton, Illinois facilities. The position reports to the Director of NA Grain & Protein of Operations & Supply Chain.
What You Will Do
- Drive the 3-year strategy Continuous improvement roadmap
- Conduct annual APS assessments at each of the manufacturing sites; then work with the local team to revise/develop their Continuous improvement roadmaps
- Conduct monthly cost reduction meetings with all Continuous Improvement Managers and achieve set annual targets with selected projects
- Support the site leaders in improving their direct labor and total productivity meeting their monthly and annual targets.
- Weekly support APS managers conducting kaizen (continuous improvement) workshops with mentoring.
- Conduct and facilitate kaizen (continuous improvement) workshops.
- Willing to travel about 25% of the time to support operations and supply chain
What You Will Bring
- 4-year degree in Manufacturing Engineering or similar experience
- 10 – 15 years’ experience in lean and/or six sigma implementations
- Experience as a hands-on leader in manufacturing
- Can facilitate, lead, and mentor others in kaizen and/or six sigma workshops
- Experience leading continuous improvement activities for multi-site facilities
A Plus If You Have
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills across all levels
- Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
- Worked in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment
- Good project management skills (helpful if have PMP certification or aspiring to get)
- Good skills of influencing, and driving change
- Ability to speak-up when they see a problem
- Six Sigma Master Black Belt or Black Belt Certification
- Lean Certification Training
