Job Summary:

Drives the overall strategy, management and plans of all technology activities related to Disaster Recovery and IT continuity. Responsibilities include communicating, developing, implementing, maintaining, and managing the governance of disaster recovery and IT continuity enterprise wide to satisfy the overall business continuity and recovery objectives for Sysco. Ensures plans are in place to prevent impacts and to rapidly restore network and processing operations and the availability of mission-critical applications and production data. This includes ensuring there is capability to support key recovery objectives, including IT infrastructure damage assessments, crisis communications, coordination with third-party providers and timely work area recovery.

Requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with business continuity leadership and senior business unit management in the definition, prioritization and support of key business recovery requirements and objectives. Ability to translate business operations recovery requirements into action-oriented plans, programs, and recovery testing strategies. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strategic thinking, and effectively link DR activities with business operations recovery and continuity requirements on a proactive basis

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define the vision, mission, strategy, and objectives of enterprise-wide DR, including plan development, budgets, roadmap, and performance measurement
  • Collaborate and serve as the key IT liaison to business continuity leadership, business unit management, external business partners and key IT staff members to set recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives and ensure that IT technologies and processes support all key availability and recovery requirements and testing.
  • Orchestrate the definition and own the standards required for DR architecture design and architecture for DR considering strategies such as high-availability, Multi-Region, etc.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity and Project office to define DR controls and ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance and risk protocols as required to sustain the level of recoverability consistent with business objectives.
  • Initiate and manage recovery capacity planning coordination with key IT technology groups in support of specific business unit initiatives (current, planned, and new), focusing on proactively ensuring an adequate recovery network and processing environment, as well as accurate and predictive budgeting.
  • Responsible for DR (including data-center-specific and non-data-center-specific IT infrastructure), with a major focus on achieving all financial estimates, ensuring adequacy of end-state production recovery environments, meeting all strategic planning deliverables, and coordinating activities of technology resources with key business units and development groups, as required.
  • Oversee the design, testing, execution, and continuous improvement of DR plans in addition to participating in impact assessments of potential disruptions in IT services, including declaring a disaster and activating the DR plan.
  • Drives, develops, and delivers DR status to senior leaders and stakeholders, including annual reporting, audit report responses and customer requests.

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education Preferred:

Advanced degree (Masters or MBA)

Experience Required:
  • 10+ years' of program and project management leadership
  • 15+ years in Technology
  • 10+ years managing technology professionals directly and indirectly
  • 5+ years in Disaster recovery management roles
  • 10+ years building cross-organizational consensus
  • 10+ years liaising with senior and executive leaders
  • Management of a team of at least 5 directs and in addition to indirect members that include matrix leadership and responsibilities
  • Experience rolling out enterprise-wide technologies and processes
  • Experience building and managing IT Scorecards and metrics
  • Ability to mentor technology management and technology professionals
  • Ability to collaborate and organize several teams across functional borders enterprise-wide
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial accounting and reporting

Experience Preferred:
  • Experience in structured frameworks, methodologies and operating models (i.e. BCM, DRM, ITIL, NIST)
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial budgeting and program performance measurement
  • Effectively lead, communicate, influence, and present to or facilitate group collaboration of all sizes and management levels
  • Understand of and experience in applying ISO 22301, ITIL v3, DRI International (DRII) or Business Continuity Institute (BCI) professional practices
  • Effectively lead and communicate through various levels of management from project leads, senior leaders to executive levaders
  • Experience in implementing DR plans, including Policy, organization, and architecture development
  • Experience with Vendor management of external DR service providers
  • Experience in defining, implementing, and enforcing risk-based standards, processes, and procedures for responding to disruptions in business or IT operations
  • Proven strategic leadership and relationship management capabilities, including experience with internal stakeholders - particularly senior and LOB management, as well as customers, external business partners and third-party service providers
  • Proven competency in executing large projects, on time and within budget, with business and IT personnel
  • Experience leading and managing high-performance multidisciplinary workgroups or teams to meet goals across multiple projects
  • Experience in creating and defining new operational models and procedures, and explaining complex problems or situations
  • Extensive experience in leading and managing groups of self-directed professionals
  • Proven ability to work under stressful conditions, such as business-related crises
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current DR planning techniques and technologies, as well as the methods used to perform risk analyses and business impact analyses
  • Strong oral communication and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in the use and application of IT project and program management tools

Licenses/Certification Preferred:

Business Continuity certification (i.e BCI, CBCP, MBCP)

Technical Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and Smartsheets or equivalent
  • Experience with BCM and/or recovery tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge or expertise across multiple technical disciplines and business applications including data center compute, storage, networking, voice, cloud, end user technology, backup, and recovery
